How much does retirement home cost in the Czech Republic?
+
The average price of a retirement home in the Czech Republic ranges between 18,000 and 40,000 CZK per month. State-run facilities are cheaper, while private ones are more expensive. Part of the costs may be covered by the care allowance (up to 19,200 CZK/month) and the client's pension.
How long is the waiting time for a place?
+
In Prague and large cities you typically wait 1-3 years, outside large cities 6-18 months. We recommend submitting applications to multiple facilities at once.
What is needed for an application to a retirement home?
+
Attach a doctor's statement on the health condition and a decision on the care allowance to the application. You can request the form directly from the facility or download it from the website.
What is the difference between DpS and DZR?
+
Retirement home is for people who need help due to age or health condition. Specialised care home is specialised for people with dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
Can I receive a care allowance?
+
Yes. The care allowance is granted by the ÚP based on the degree of dependency. The amount is 880-19,200 CZK/month (levels I-IV). Retirement homes accept this allowance as part of the payment.
