What is respite care?

Respite care (respite care) temporarily take over the care of a senior so that the caring family can rest. They are provided either as a short-term stay in a facility or as a home-based service. Inpatient respite care is legally limited to 3 months in a calendar year.

Prices vary according to the type (residential vs. home-based) and scope of care. Residential respite care costs approximately 500-1200 CZK/day. Here too, you can use the care allowance and the allowance for the carer.
How to arrange respite care?

Contact the provider well in advance as capacities are often limited. Specify the date, length of stay and the client's health condition. The facility will carry out an initial assessment and draw up a contract.
Is there support for caring families?

Yes. In addition to respite care, there is a care allowance for carers (under Act No. 108/2006 Coll.), social advice and self-help groups. Staff from respite care services will advise you on available options.
