Frequently asked questions

What is specialised care home?
+
Specialised care home (DZR) is a specialised residential facility for people with Alzheimer's disease, dementia or other cognitive disorders. It offers specially trained staff, secure premises and therapeutic activities.
What is the difference between a specialised care home and a standard retirement home?
+
A DZR has a specially adapted daily routine for people with dementia, secured premises that prevent wandering, more intensive staff care and therapies such as reminiscence therapy, music therapy or art therapy.
How much does a stay in a specialised care home cost?
+
Stay in a specialised care home is usually more expensive than in a classic retirement home - typically 22,000-45,000 CZK/month. The reason is the higher level of care required and staff specialisation. Here too, the care allowance can be used.
When is it appropriate to consider a DZR?
+
A DZR is suitable if your relative has diagnosed dementia, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease with dementia or another mental disorder, and a classic retirement home can no longer provide appropriate care.
How to apply to a DZR?
+
You submit the application directly at the facility. It is necessary to provide a medical report with diagnosis, a decision on the care allowance and proof of identity. We recommend applying to multiple facilities at once as waiting times are often long.
